Yup, me too… I can start with the best of them and come out gunz-a-blazin’!
If I were running a race, I’d be the first one out the gates running like a crazy woman and then slowly drop off. Historically, my finishing skills are pretty pathetic.
I know I’m not the only one. There are plenty of us who start new pursuits full of enthusiasm. They start out committed because they are fueled by creative ideas.
Along the path to success, we lose motivation, clarity, and creativity. Procrastination shows up as well as loss of direction.
My business coach Shanda Sumpter has drilled it into my head about being a finisher.
This has been my motto for 2018: Start strong, finish stronger.
(feel free to steal that!)
Even if I wanted to quit something because I was bored with it or over it, I stick with it just for the sake of finishing it.
It has helped me IMMENSELY!
It’s not about the activity or project as much as being of a finisher mentality.
I complete things.
There’s confidence that comes with this mindset.
Now I want to know: What are you working on right now? Have you given up on something recently? Thrown in the towel?
If you have, it’s okay.
The best thing to do now is acknowledge the hurdle so your support system can help you overcome it. Talk it out, journal your thoughts if you need to.
Now, what’s next?
Let’s pick it back up and FINISH!
You got this! I know you do.
You’ll be amazed with the progress you make.
No worries, my friend.
All good things take time.
