Hey ,
Recently, I needed a break. I wanted to step back from everything, and have some time and space for myself.
Just me.
Yet, I felt like I wasn’t allowed to take a break from the burnout.
Instead, I was looking at family, friends, colleagues, and even clients to tell me that it was okay to take time away from the hustle and bustle.
It’s so easy to look to other people for permission. No matter the circumstance, we fall prone to seeking reassurance from others.
Big things, or small, trivial things, we tend to wait for somebody to tell us that it’s okay to make certain decisions.
Why do we wait around for permission to do things?
Permission to say what we want, live our life how we want, pursue the passion we want, go for the real job we want.
As if some principal is gonna come around the corner like, yes, Sharon, here’s your requested permission to live the life you want. you may proceed…. Um… That would be weird, first of all.
Second, GIVE YOURSELF THE PERMISSION TO GO FOR IT. (Whatever your IT is!)
In my experience, the core issue is a lack of trust.
We don’t trust ourselves enough to do what’s right for our own well-being. Instead, we want someone else to tell us how to live our lives.
And this is ludicrous.
We all go through seasons, in life and in business.
When things are going really well, we feel confident and we do as we please.
But, it’s when things start to turn sour that we want other people to tell us what to do.
At the end of the day, we have to have our own back.
Now I want to hear from you.
Where are you struggling right now? Why do you feel like you need to seek permission? If my story resonated with you, I want you to ask yourself, “What am I waiting for?”
What do you think will encourage you to take the first step? The leap of faith?
Whatever your situation is, let this be a sign for you: you no longer need permission to do whatever it is that you’re called to do.
Let’s brainstorm together and get you through this!
